UML keeps mum on interim PM issue
Biratnagar, December 1:
CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal said today that his party has not proposed or supported anyone for the post of prime minister in the interim government.
When asked if present Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala would head the interim government, Nepal, who is here to inaugurate a national convention of the Democratic National Youth Forum (DNYF) scheduled for tomorrow, said: “Our party has not drawn any conclusion regarding this. Let’s wait and watch.”
He also said that the party has not discussed the possibility of UML leading the government.
“UML will not join the interim government because its functioning procedures are not clear,” said Nepal, adding: “Issues related to working procedures of the government, modalities and functioning of the parliament should be clarified first.” Nepal blamed Koirala of trying to lead the present government as if it was his party’s majority government. “The election to constituent assembly will not be held on time if we fail to give proper attention to all aspects of the CA polls,” said Nepal.
Meanwhile, preparations for the sixth DNYF convention completed today. Some 1200 DNYF representatives from the country and members of youth organisations from over 20 youth organisations from different countries are scheduled to participate in the convention, said chairperson of DNYF, Gokarna Bista.
