KATHMANDU, JULY 18

CPN-UML lawmaker and party's senior figure Bhim Rawal has resigned from his House of Representatives seat.

Rawal apprised the media present at Federal Parliament premises of his resignation only hours ahead of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's floor test.

Citing that he is not aligning himself to the ongoing immoral political atmosphere, the UML leader announced his resignation as a lawmaker.

Lawmakers from the Madhav Nepal faction had made attempts to stop Rawal, who also belongs to the same faction, from tendering his resignation, but to no avail.

A member of the taskforce which comprised leaders from both the factions, Rawal had tried to reason with Nepal to not proceed with voting in Sher Bahadur Deuba's favour during today's trust motion.

However, Nepal was adamant in his position which had irked Rawal, thus leading to his resignation.
