UML leaders against tying up with Maoists

Kathmandu, May 6:

Central leaders of the CPN-UML today pressed the ongoing central committee meeting not to make any alliance with the Maoists in the future until the latter stopped their “criminal activities.”

During today’s discussion, most of the central committee members raised voices against making any alliance with the Maoists, as the Maoists and the YCL cadres were still involved in criminal activities.

They criticised the Maoists for activities beating up of UML cadres, abduction of common people and politics of terror. During today’s discussion, Jhala Nath Khanal, Keshav Badal, Pradip Gyawali and Gokarna Bista aired their views. They also demanded legal action against those involved in criminal activities.

The central committee meeting is reviewing the party’s defeat in the CA polls. The meeting will continue tomorrow.
