UML may support coalition partner for CA VC’s post
Kathmandu, November 27:
CPN-UML, a key partner in the ruling coalition, is most likely to support CPN-Maoist’s candidate Purna Kumari Subedi for the post of vice-chairperson for the Constituent Assembly in tomorrow’s election.
Maoist CA member Shankar Pokharel stated that his party would try to have a common candidate but in case that failed they would support the Maoist candidate. “We do not have our own candidate, nor does the Nepali Congress.
Therefore, it will be hard for us not to support the Maoists, as we are partners of the ruling coalition,” Pokharel said. Pratibha Rana of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Khobhari Roy of Sadbhawana Party, Lila Nyainchain of Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party, Ramani Ram of Tarai Madhes Democratic Party and Nilam KC of CPN-ML are also vying for the post. NC leader Dr Ram Sharan Mahat said his party would back all opposition women candidates.
