UML meet slams king’s b’day plans

Kathmandu, July 6:

The ongoing 15th central committee meeting of the CPN-UML today saw leaders condemning the king’s birthday plans. They termed it an attempt to regroup the sidelined ‘mandales’ and regressive elements.

“The king’s planned birthday celebrations are an attempt to denigrate the achievements of Jana Andolan-II,” a statement issued by the CPN-UML at the end of today’s meeting said.The meeting today also saw leaders stressing the need to focus attention on the constituent assembly election to make the country a democratic republic.

Standing committee members Jhalanath Khanal, Amrit Kumar Bohara and central member Tul Bahadur Gurung aired their views on the political report presented by party general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal. The meeting that began on June 24 will continue tomorrow.
