Kathmandu, January 7
The central working committee of the CPN-UML is "likely to endorse" the proposed road-map prepared by the party high command tomorrow, a central working committee member
said today.
"We are hopeful that the central committee will endorse the proposal tomorrow, especially
the one on roundtable conference," Jhalanath Khanal told this daily.
Most of the central committee members of the party unanimously expressed consent for the round-table conference, which is the key demand of the Maoists.
The roundtable conference proposes to include both the King and the Maoists.
Party general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal had proposed three separate proposals on the contemporary issues yesterday.
"Twenty-eight central committee members expressed their views on the proposals," the member said.
The meeting will continue tomorrow and would "hopefully" decide the issue.
Most leaders today expressed concern over the "brutal" lathi-charge on the peaceful rallies organised by the students.
The party has also condemned the lathi-charge by the police at a protest rally, which left more than a dozen injured.
Party general secretary Nepal administered the oath of office to six members — Guru Baral, Prithivi Subba Gurung, Rana Dhoj Kandangwa, Bhanubhakta Joshi, Raghubir Mahaseth and Radha Gyawali, who were nominated yesterday.
