UML to lead govt after completion of three-tier of elections: Oli

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman K P Sharma Oli has said that his party will lead the government only after the completion of the three-tier of elections by Jan 21.

Speaking at a programme organised to congratulate the elected representatives from UML in local bodies in Province number 3 in the Capital on Monday, Oli said that no forces would stop UML from leading the government after the completion of three-tier of elections next year.

Former PM Oli said urged party cadres to remain alert about the tricks plotted by the Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Centre alliance to defeat UML.

He also referred to the Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19 ballot papers tearing incident, urged them to remain vigilant about the government's exercising unfair power to affect the free elections in the second round of local polls on June 28.

He further urged the party cadres to be more alert as ruling parties were plotting conspiracy to defeat the UML.

While congratulating the newly elected representatives, chair Oli urged them to read the constitution thoroughly and bear the responsibility given by the constitution.

Former PM Oli further said that the local level was not only local body like in the past as it has executive, judicial and other powers as well; therefore, representative should be capable to bear all kinds of responsibilities
