UML welcomes SC intervention, says NC-Maoist coalition faces moral crisis
KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML has welcomed the Supreme Court's intervention against the move to impeach Chief Justice Sushila Karki.
After the apex court issued a stay order against the impeachment motion and Chief Justice Karki's suspension and reinstated her in the office, CPN-UML's Secretary commented that the ruling coalition face a moral crisis now.
He remarked that the issues raised by the CPN-UML over the impeachment motion proved to be true. The party has claimed that the impeachment motion was brought in to prevent Karki from bearing her duties.
The main opposition had been protesting the motion moved by the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN Maoist Centre, and demanding its withdrawal.
The opposition parties obstructed the House earlier today, protesting the impeachment motion.
