UML wins Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City

ITAHARI: CPN-UML has won the election to the post of mayor and deputy mayor of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City.

Dwarikalal Chaudhary has been elected mayor with 22,689 votes while his nearest rival, Rohit Prasain of the Nepali Congress got only 19,985 votes.

Similarly, Laxmi Gautam has emerged victorious to the post, deputy mayor, receiving 21,842 votes. Her nearest contender Bimala Dhakal got only 18,352 votes.

Out of 20 wards of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City, the NC won the election in ward no 1, 3, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17 and 20.

Likewise, the UML has been elected in ward no 2, 4, 5, 9, 13, 14 and 19 while Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) in ward no 10.

Out of 77,797 voters of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City, 57,389 voters exercised their franchise in the polls held in June 28.
