UNHCR official, Bhutanese refugee leaders meet
Kathmandu, June 26:
Nepal representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Abraham Abraham today met a dozen Bhutanese leaders including Ratan Gajmer, SD Subba, Hari Adhikari (Bangale) and NB Giri, at former’s office at Maharajgunj. Bhutanese leader Tek Nath Rijal, however, didn’t go to the office saying that he was for repatriation and not a third-country resettlement of Bhutanese refugees.
“We don’t want to impose a third-country resettlement. It is up to refugees to choose repatriation or settlement,” Ratan Gajmer quoted Abraham as saying. They also discussed
about the deteriorating security situation in the refugees’ camp. Gajmer, talking to this daily, said they are going to meet Nepali government officials to draw their attention towards the security situation in the refugee camp.
