DHANGADHI: An unidentified group of assailants has attacked the Mayor of Ghodaghodi Municipality in Kailali this evening.

Mayor Chaudhary, who was attacked in his own house located at Sukhkhad Bazaar, has been severely injured. Chaudhary has sustained bullet injuries in his legs and waist while the assailant group injured his head with a khukuri.

Chaudhary has been rushed to Nepalgunj for further treatment after receiving primary treatment at Ghodaghodi.

The Mayor was recently in news for mediating reconciliation in an alleged 'witchcraft' case in the district. His party CPN-UML had also formed a probe committee to investigate his involvement in the case.
