Unified RPP wants to be recognised as new party

KATHMANDU: After the unification of Rastriya Pratantra Party-Nepal and Rastriya Prajatantra Party, the unified party on Monday asked the Election Commission to recognise it as a new political party with its name Rastriya Prajatantra Party.

The RPP-Nepal has 25 lawmakers and the RPP 12 in the Parliament.

The RPP-Nepal contested the Constituent Assembly elections with the cow as its election symbol and RPP with the plough.

As per the agreement between the two parties, Kamal Thapa would remain the chairman and Parliamentary Party of the unified party, and Pashupati Shamsher Rana the national chairman for the time being.
