Pokhara, August 14

Union of Trekking Travels Rafting Airlines Workers’ Nepal, Western Regional Committee, Pokhara, has warned it will return tourists trekking to Annapurna area from September 1 in a three-point statement issued today.

Expressing discontent at the increment in accommodation and food prices by hotel operators and local clubs along the route for tourist guides and porters, they warned they would call away tourists trekking on the trail.

The statement signed by union Chairperson Bijay KC accused hotel operators at Mardi Khola Trekking route, Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Base Camp along the trekking route of imposing a syndicate over tourists and their guides.

The union has said that it will hold discussion with Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal Western Regional Association Pokhara among other stakeholders and put pressure to meet their demands by August 21.
