UDMF leaders discuss protest strategies

Kathmandu, April 14

United Democratic Madhesi Front leaders today discussed protest strategies.

UDMF leaders Upendra Yadav, Rajendra Mahato, Mahendra Ray Yadav, Raj Kishor Yadav and Mahantha Thakur were present in the meeting.

Mahato said their discussion would continue on Sunday. “We have discussed various strategies. We will probably take decisions about the same on Sunday,” Mahato said after the meeting.

The UDMF rejected the new statute amendment bill that the government registered in the Parliament a few days ago. The UDMF has threatened to disrupt the local polls slated for May 14 if their demands are not met. Mahato said they did not discuss unity issue today.

UDMF constituents have held informal dialogue in an attempt to create a unified Madhesi party and are also planning to hold formal dialogue on the issue, according to UDMF sources.
