KATHMANDU: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has shown willingness to visit Nepal.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Anand Prasad Pokharel shared such information at a press meet organised to inform about his week long US visit focused on inviting international dignitaries including the UN Secretary General to the upcoming International Buddhist Conference.

The Conference is being held on the occasion of the Buddha Jayanti, the birthday of Lord Buddha.

The Conference will be held for three days from coming May 19 to 21.

Minister Pokharel shared that the UN Secretary General had shown interest on Nepal's peace process and the situation after the promulgation of the new Constitution.

He also reminded the assistance the UN provided during the peace process in Nepal.

Earlier, the UN Secretary General had inquired about the development of Lumbini and the Lumbini master plan.

Moreover, during the visit, Minister Pokharel attended an interaction where he stressed the role of Nepali diaspora on boosting tourism in Nepal.

Also, he took part in the meeting on Global Parliamentarians' Forum for Evaluation. The meeting discussed evaluation policy and sustainable development goal.
