Upper Dordi-A hydro project achieves tunnel breakthrough
LAMJUNG: A tunnel breakthrough of an under construction 25 megawatts Upper Dordi-A hydropower in Lamjung district has been achieved, a project official said today.
The project's Chairman Kush Kumar Joshi and Managing Director Atmaram Ghimire jointly inaugurated the tunnel breakthrough today.
Joshi said, "The project would be completed within the stipulated time frame." He further said electricity generated from the project won't be wasted if the government initiates to construct transmission line on time.
Two turbines capable of generating 12.5 megawatts of electricity have been installed in the project.
As per Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between the parent company Liberty Energy Hydropower and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), during dry season per unit electricity would cost Rs 8.40 and Rs 4.80 in monsoon season.
Rajendra Wasti of Liberty Energy Hydropower said, the construction of 2.6 kilometres long tunnel has been completed which began in 2014.
According to the project's Managing Director Ghimire, 80 per cent of the work has been completed so far.
