NAWALPARASI: Two persons died in a road accident that took place near a forest in Sunawal Municipality-7 of Nawalparasi district along the East-West Highway on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as scooter rider Dev Bahadur Nepali (35) and pillion rider Sita, both the local residents.

The accident took place when the scooter (Lu 14 Pa 5708) heading in a westward direction collided head-on with a loaded pick-up van (Lu 1 Cha 6176), critically injuring the duo riders in Jyamire last night, according to the Sunawal-based Area Police Office (APO).

The two wheeler rider breathed his at the Bhaluhi Medical College, Rupandehi, and the pillion rider at the Bhairahawa Medical College while undergoing treatment, the APO confirmed.

Meanwhile, police have impounded the vehicle and detained its driver for further investigation into the incident.
