Women health workers thrashed a VDC secretary in Udaypur district today.

Women health volunteers led by Charimaya Magar beat up Saroj Acharya, secretary of Inane VDC, on the charge of not providing them allowance for clothes.

They beat up Acharya while he was staying in his office, according to locals. “The village council had allocated the annual fund of Rs 5,000 as cloth allowance for the volunteers, however, Acharya did not dole out the fund despite our repeated pleas,” Magar said.

Acharya said the allowance could not be provided due to the delay in releasing the fund.

The police held three women, including Magar, who were involved in beating up Acharya.
