Vehicles donated by India stuck

Birgunj, February 13:

Up to 80 vehicles donated by India have been stuck on the border for the past two weeks.

Local customs officers said the vehicles could not be sent to their destination on time because of the almost one-month agitation in Terai. Fifty of the donated vehicles would be used by PLA cantonment site inspection teams and the remaining by the advisors of the United Nations for Constituent Assembly polls.

Chief of Birgunj Custom Office Dhruba Prasad Panta said efforts to send the vehicles to the capital after completing all necessary custom processes were on. Earlier, India had provided 70 containers to lock up Maoists’ arms and 300 tents for the People’s Liberation Army personnel in the temporary camps.
