Ramechhap, October 14

Authorities in Ramechhap have taken action against vehicles operating in the district without route permit.

According to Chief District Officer Lila Kumari KC Pande, action was taken against 200 vehicles found to be operating in the district without obtaining required route permit.

“We had allowed operation of vehicles without route permit from September 29 to October 6 keeping in view the festival, but as vehicles were still operating without route permit, we had to swing into action,” said Pande, adding that buses, microbuses, jeeps and minibuses faced action.

According to Ramechhap police chief Santosh Bhattarai, as many as 125 vehicles were booked on a single day recently. Police are said to have collected 200,000 rupees in fine from the vehicles.

“As of now, police deployed at different entry points to the district stop such vehicles and send them to the place they came from. For passengers travelling on such vehicles, alternative arrangement has been made,” said the police, adding that 26 vehicles trying to enter the district without route permit were stopped and sent back.
