Vehicles stopped from plying

Four-wheelers have been halted from plying across the bridge of the Sharada barrage over the Mahakali River after the water flow soared in the river.

After the water level rose due to incessant rainfall since last night, the Indian side has halted the movement of all four wheelers on the bridge after 12:00pm today.

The Indian side has halted the movement of vehicles on the bridge after water level reached 100,000 cusecs in the river.

Sub-inspector Dikar Dev Pant at Area Police Office, Gaddachauki, said that pedestrians and two-wheelers, however, had not been restricted from plying on the bridge.

The water level had measured at 108,000 cusecs at 12:00 noon today.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Bahadur Sethi at District Police office, Kanchnapur said that security had been put on a high alert with the increase in water flow in the Mahakali River following incessant rainfall since last night.
