KATHMANDU, AUGUST 19

A cases of Viral fever is on the rise in Kanchanpur district of Far-western province amid monsoon in recent days. Many health institutions in the district are overwhelmed by a surge of viral fever patients, according to the health workers.

Mahakali Provincial Hospital has been receiving around 100 patients with the infection on a daily basis, said the hospital's medical superintendent Dr Hari Kumar Shrestha.

"The patients did not show symptoms related to COVID-19 however. Meanwhile, only five COVID-19 patients are receiving treatment at the hospital," Dr Shrestha added.

Meanwhile, many health institutions in rural areas have also reported increasing cases of viral fever in the district, said the health office.

Likewise, the hospital is preparing to install a medical oxygen plant with the financial support of the United Nations Office for Project Services. "It has been informed that the organisation has brought 80 percent equipment for the plant. Now a pipeline expansion at the hospital is underway," Dr Shrestha informed..
