The number of seasonal viral fever patients has increased in the health facilities of Bajura in the past two weeks.

Viral fever has spread in all the local levels of the district. According to District Hospital, Bajura, children have been mostly affected. The seasonal disease becomes more dangerous when it spreads among children. Health workers said that the number of patients was increasing every day.

Dr Milan Joshi said even the health workers had been infected with viral fever. He said it was very difficult to treat patients after the health workers also fell ill. The situation is more serious due to high fever and pneumonia.

More than 20 to 30 patients reach the district hospital for treatment daily. Health Coordinator at Khaptadchhededaha Rural Municipality Ramesh Oli said that viral fever had gripped the entire village.

Similarly, viral fever patients have also increased in Kolti Primary Health Centre. More than five patients are receiving treatment with oxygen support at District Hospital, Bajura. Patients with 100 to 105-degree fever, pneumonia, cough and diarrhoea have reached the hospital. Staff nurse Nisha Rokaya said that a huge number of patients were there at the hospital. She said that most of the patients lacked oxygen.

Patients are not only reaching government health facilities, but also private health centres for treatment.

A private medical operator in Martadi Ram Chandra Yadav said that he alone treated 40 to 50 patients on a daily basis.

Children below 10 years of age have been infected. According to health facilities, the viral fever this time is more dangerous than that of past years. Dr Joshi said viral fever had created problems in the treatment of patients at the hospital.
