Voter turnout drops in Udaypur

Voter turnout in the provincial and parliamentary elections have gone down by  13 per cent compared to the voter turnout recorded during the civic polls held earlier this year in Udaypur district.

The district saw 61 per cent voter turnout during the second phase of provincial and parliamentary elections while the voter turnout percentage was 74 during local level polls. The district.

The lowest number of votes, which was less than 35 per cent, was cast at Laphagaun voting centre in Rautamai Rural Municipality had the least voter turnout in the district — only 35 per cent votes were cast from the centre. The centre lies in Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party Nepal’s district in-charge Kedar Rai ‘s home town. The party had warned voters against casting votes.

District Security Coordination Committee had recognised the ward as ‘highly sensitive’. Triyuga Municipality recorded the highest voter turnout — 71 per cent.
