Saptakoshi River flow hits record high, 35 sluice gates opened

KATHMANDU: The water flow in mighty Saptakoshi River hit its record high of the year on Tuesday as rainfall continues in eastern Nepal for over a week, Rastriya Samachar Samiti reported.

Referring to officials at the Koshi Barrage Control Room, the RSS said the water flow was read as 285,223 cusec at 12.15 pm today.

As the water level continued to increase, 35 sluice gates, out of 56, were opened to release the water from the Koshi Barrage, which has capacity to bearĀ 242,000 cusec of water flow.
