Water taps in their courtyards have not been of any use to the Majhis of Kunauri of Bhaluwabazaar VDC-1 for three years, thanks to the alleged negligence of the District Development Committee, Ramechhap.

For three years, the locals have had to walk for an hour to fetch water from Nirikhola.

The water supply was disrupted in the Majhi settlement of 55 households during the construction of the Manthali-Khurkot road under the District Road Support Programme (DRSP) which is funded by the Ramechhap DDC.The authorities have not yet repaired the water pipe disconnected during the construction, and that is why the Majhis have been facing this problem.A local, Man Bahadur Majhi, accused DDC of denying them clean drinking water. The road construction that was started five years ago is nearing completion now. The Majhis said that LDO Uddhav Adhikari had promised them the waterpipe would be repaired , but even after three years the promise has not been kept. He said the DRSP had also promised to build two water tanks. “The TSS gave us water 15 years ago and DDC took it away three years ago”.
