Weather thwarts PM’s visit
BIRGUNJ: The visit of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has been called off due to bad weather and poor visibility on Sunday.
He was scheduled to visit Birgunj by helicopter to inaugurate a two day Nepal National Civil Assembly.
According to the Nepal Civil Society the PM was to inaugurate the assembly which was scheduled to be held at the assembly hall of the Industries and Commerce Association, Birgunj.
According to Yadhav Prasad Koirala, the District Administration Officer, Birgunj a large number of Nepal Police and Armed Police personnel had been deployed for the security of the Prime Minister in the areas near the Industries and Commerce Association since morning.
According to DP Aryal, chief secretary of the Society there would be representatives of 75 districts in the Assembly. He added that proposals on political issues would be presented in the assembly.
Senior party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to conclude the assembly with a formal programme.
Reconstruction of roads had been underway for the PM’s arrival.
The road from the Councilors’ Office, Birgunj to the Ghanta Ghar Chowk which is badly in need of repair was being reconstructed.
Due to the poor quality of road construction by the Birgunj Sub Metropolitan city the roads tend to become damaged within a short time after construction.
