KATHMANDU, AUGUST 12
Former finance minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has accused the government of missing the impacts of COV- ID-19 on the national economy and objecting to the works of the previous government in its whitepaper.
Speaking in the Parliament meeting today, the former finance minister wondered why the new government had criticised the works of the previous government. He was aware of the financial and economic statistics made public by the finance ministry, Nepal Rastra Bank, and Central Bureau of Statistics, among others.
"The whitepaper presented by Finance Minister Janardan Sharma in the Parliament two days ago, ignored the adverse impacts of COV- ID-19 on the national economy," he underscored.
Due to COVID-19, production and income declined, but average spending remained stable. However, this fact was neglected in the whitepaper.
He also took time to hail the programmes of the previous government, such as Prime Minister Employment Programme, social security, child security grant, workplace training for workers, accident insurance, progress in national pride projects such as Melamchi Drinking Water Project and Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, among others.
