KATHMANDU: Student Co-ordination Committee (SCC) of Dilli Bazaar Kanya Multiple Campus has accused Khem Narayan Dhakal, a Master's student at Tribhuvan University, of abducting his own wife Spata (Sita) Kharel.

Issuing a press statement in the capital today, SCC has condemned the act and urged concerned authorities to take strong action against Dhakal. The committee also warned to protest if action was not taken against Dhakal at the earliest.

Kharel, currently pursuing her second year in Bachelor's degree was married to Dhakal on February 17. She had been continuously harassed for not bringing home enough dowry. She was continuing her studies staying at her parents' house. However, while returning home from college, she was abducted and taken to a jungle at Tokha where she had been able to contact her parents in a state of mental and physical trauma.

Dhakal has been absconding following the incident, stated SCC.
