Woman behind bid to murder husband

It has been revealed that Priyanka, the wife of Umesh Prasad Chaurasiya, 30, of Birgunj, Parsa, was behind the shooting of her husband last night.
Young entrepreneur Chaurasiya was critically injured when he was shot at in front of Rato Bangla, which is just 50 metres away from District Police Office in Birgunj Metropolitan City at around 9:00pm yesterday.
Parsa Police held four persons with evidences, including Umesh’s wife Priyanka, for their involvement in the murder attempt and made them public today.
According to SP Ganesh Regmi, Priyanka, who was having an extra-marital affair with Bikendra Gupta of Parwanipur Rural Municipality-1, had planned the murder and Manoj Gupta of Parwanipur and Munna Sah of Birgunj-12, had helped them to execute the plan.
Priyanka had plotted her husband’s murder to tie the knot with Bikendra, who had offered Rs 25,000 and his motorbike to Manoj for his support.
Umesh, who had set up his thread business after returning from employment abroad, had stayed in Birgunj for a decade. He was returning home from Butwal, where he had gone in relation with his business when Manoj and Munna chased him on motorbike last evening.
Pillion rider Manoj had shot Umesh, who sustained critical injuries on the stomach. After firing, the duo fled the scene on bike. Security personnel reached the incident site and rescued Umesh and took him to Birgunj-based Narayani Sub-regional Hospital. He was later referred to Norvic Hospital, Kathmandu.
“Umesh is receiving treatment at Norvic Hospital. We were able to nab all the perpetrators within six hours of the incident,” said SP Regmi.
