GAUSHALA: A woman drowned while she was bathing in a pond at Gaida, Bhetpur VDC-7 in Mahottari district on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as local Guraki Devi Pandit (55) of Bhetpur VDC-1, according to the District Police Office, Mahottari.

The incident took place when the woman went into the pond located in front of the Ram Janaki Temple to purify herself with a holy bath as a ritual of Bada Dashain festival, said Superintendent of  Police (SP), Janak Bhattarai.

Meanwhile the body of the woman has been brought to the District Hospital at Jaleshwar for autopsy.
