BAITADI: A woman reportedly died after she fell off a cliff at Munnalek of Sigas Rural Municipality-8 in Baitadi district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Parbati Awasthi of Shivalinga, Sigas Rural Municipality-8.

She was cutting grass for livestock when she accidentally fell off the cliff yesterday. She died on the spot after the fall, said Gange Airee, a local eyewitness.

Meanwhile, a dead body of a man has been found floating in the Chameliya River confluence at Karkale, in Dilasaini Rural Municipality of Baitadi district.

It is yet to establish the identity of the man who appeared to be in his mid-20s, said police.

Since a half-burnt dagbatti (cotton wick) was found in the mouth of the floating dead body, police suspected that the body might have been disposed of in the river after performing the last rites and giving the dagbatti to the deceased from some place upstream.

Hindus give the dagbatti to the dead and place it on the mouth of the deceased while performing the last rites of a person.
