PANCHTHAR: A woman has died and her mother injured in a fire incident that took place in Chhathar Rural Municipality-2 of Tehrathum district, today.

The deceased has been identified as local Dhana Maya Karki (20). Dhana Maya died on the spot in the fire that started around 6:00 am, informed police.

Mother of Dhana Maya, Ram Maya Karki, has been seriously injured in the incident, said Information Officer at District Police Office, Police Inspector Narayan Gautam.

Injured Ram Maya has been referred to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan after her treatment could not be carried out in Tehrathum Hospital.

The two-storey wooden house where the women lived could have caught fire from an oil lamp, said police.

It has been learnt that that property worth Rs 1 million was destroyed in the fire.
