Woman Maoist gunned down

Phidim, April 5:

A woman Maoist cadre died in Panchthar today in a clash after Maoists attacked security forces who were out on a mission to trace Bam Bahadur Yongya and Rana Bahadur Khadka, chairman and vice chairman respectively of the district development committee, Panchthar. The Maoists abducted Yongya and Khadka two days ago.

According to the personnel of the district-based RNA’s Batuk Dal Battalion, the Maoists attacked the security patrol team in Ghurpise Panchami bazaar of Panchthar. The men from the battalion are deployed for the security of repeater towers of the Nepal Telecom located in the district headquarters, Phidim, and at Silauti. A Maoist cadre, Ganga Gurung died when the forces retaliated, sources said.
