GAIGHAT: A woman committed suicide after consuming poison at Bhutar VDC in Udayapur on Wednesday.

Police said Sabina Rai, 25, of Panchthar, who was currently living in Gaighat Bazaar had tied the knot with Shiva Kumar Khadka of Bhutar VDC some years ago. Police said Rai had left a suicide note.

The note read that her husband deceived her and loved her money more than her. “I am compelled to commit suicide as I did not get love and affection from my husband,” read the note.

She had also written that she was deceived after her husband married again despite having two children with her.

It is said that Khadka and Rai had met for the first time in Malaysia in the course of foreign employment.

They were living in a rented house in Gaighat for the last three months.
