The campaign meant for increasing access and ownership of women farmers to land property is gaining success in Ramechhap with more and more women participating in the campaign.

As per the campaign launched by Land Rights Forum (Bhumi Adhikari Manch), the women who were earlier without any land ownership certificate in their name have now started getting the certificates jointly with their husbands.

“We had to launch the campaign as we felt that women in our society are always neglected when it comes to rights though it is they who work harder than their male counterparts,” said Samita BK, the forum’s Ramechhap secretary.

According to her, as many as 45 couples got joint land-ownership from the land revenue office in a single day as per the campaign.

As per the campaign, a camp had been organised at Ramechhap bazaar in the presence of district land revenue office chief Raj Rajeshwor Tribedi targeting the farmers of Ramechhap and Sukajor VDCs.

The certificates were distributed from the first ever camp of such type in the district.
