‘Won’t allow border encroachment’

Dhangadhi, December 5

Former prime minister and ruling party Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has vowed to take up cudgels against any attempt to encroach national territory in any form and name.

Speaking at a press conference organised by Press Organisation in Dhangadhi today, Dahal reiterated that Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura have always been inseparable parts of Nepal.

He informed mediapersons about the political and diplomatic initiatives under way to end Indian occupation of the region.

“There has been national consensus among all political stakeholders in Nepal, evident in an all-party meeting held earlier, on the fact that Limpiyadhura is the origin of the Mahakali river and that places such as Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura are Nepali territories. All leaders and experts are in perfect accord on this issue,” Dahal explained.

Dahal arrived in Dhangadhi today to inaugurate a financial conference that will be organised by Sudurpashchim Province here tomorrow.

On a different note, the ruling party chief hoped that the recent reshuffle in the government would be meaningful.

“The reshuffle in the cabinet has given new hope to the common people. I hope the new faces in ministerial positions won’t let the government and the people down, and that they will pull off a good performance,” he said.

Yet on a different note, Dahal said the party was reviewing the results of the by-election. “The review will be done by a party secretariat-level meeting on December 9. The meeting will discuss the by-election of all levels from the ground up,” he said.

Besides Dahal, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supply Lekhraj Bhatta and Labour and Social Security Minister Rameshwor Raya Yadav have also arrived in Dhangadhi for tomorrow’s programme.
