KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 3

More than 10,000 participants including global leaders, scholars, artists, youth and community representatives are set to gather in Lumbini and Ramagrama for World Peace Event III, scheduled for December 10–12 under the theme "Peace for a Prosperous Future."

Accordng to the organizers, the global event will host UN cultural ambassadors, international business leaders, and representatives from Nepal and abroad. Notably, 25 billionaires from the Fortune Generation will visit Nepal together for the first time, exploring avenues for investment, cross-sector collaboration, and long-term partnerships. Three former heads of state are also expected to attend.

Set against the spiritual backdrop of Lumbini-the birthplace of the Buddha-and Ramagrama, home to the world's only intact relic stupa of the Buddha, the event aims to position Nepal's heritage at the centre of global conversations on peace, development and prosperity. The initiative aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 16 on peace, justice and strong institutions.

The World Peace Event III will feature high-level panels and dialogues focusing on peace, climate, sustainable development, inner wellbeing and social justice. Youth and community sessions will highlight practical peace-building approaches, local governance, and everyday leadership.

Dedicated platforms will give space to women, indigenous communities and marginalized groups to share lived experiences and future aspirations. Cultural performances, artistic showcases and musical expressions will underscore how creativity can heal and unite diverse communities, the organizers said.

A major highlight will be the Light Offering Ceremony at Ramagrama Stupa on December 12, where thousands of lamps and prayers for peace will be offered collectively for Nepal and the world.

This is the third edition of the global World Peace movement, which began in 2023 during UN Secretary-General António Guterres' historic visit to Lumbini. Organizers say this year marks a significant milestone with the unprecedented gathering of global investors and leaders on Nepali soil-an opportunity expected to open pathways for major investments and innovative collaborations.

Nepal Tourism Board has joined as an official partner, while Kathmandu University serves as academic partner alongside multiple government, civil society, and youth organizations.

The event is led by The Promised Land Foundation in collaboration with Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal World Youth Federation, Lumbini Cultural Municipality, Lumbini Development Trust, and other national and international partners.
