Youth bodies form federation

KATHMANDU: As many as 162 youth organisations from 55 districts have formed National Youth Organisation Federation Nepal. They have also blamed the government for not recognising apolitical youth organisations.

The federation has elected a 25-member ad hoc committee under the leadership of Mani Pokharel. Lokendra Bom, spokesperson, NYOFN, said youth organisations needed to be united to transform their vision and goals into reality.

Ensuring the rights of the organisations, taking initiative to represent them at national and international levels and informing them on issues are some objectives of the NYOFN.

Speaking at an interaction here, Bom said they would establish district committees in all 75 districts in two months and bring another 7,000 youth organisations from across the country under their umbrella in a year. They also plan to interact and hold meetings with donor agencies on a regular basis and study apolitical youth organisations across the globe.

“The government apathy has forced all youth organisations to unite under NYOFN,” said Pokharel.
