Youth held for attacking Chitwan Medical College chief

RATNANAGAR: Police on Wednesday arrested a man who was on the run after allegedly attacking Chairperson of the Chitwan Medical College, in Chitwan district on Wednesday.

Superintendent of Police Deepak Shrestha of the District Police Office said that they had arrested Bhim Bahadur Tamang (24) of Chitwan, who was absconding after he attacked Dr Harish Chandra Neupane.

Neupane was inside his vehicle (BA 14 Cha 7564) at the college premises when the incident occurred on January 24.

He, however, managed to stay unscathed. The attack smashed windshields of the car.

Meanwhile, police have filed a case of an attempted murder against Tamang.

The District Court on Thursday extended the Tamang's remand by five days for necessary legal proceedings, police said.
