Youth killed after pistol went off accidentally
Kavre, March 20
A youth died when a pistol in his friend’s hand went off accidentally when they were out hunting pheasant in Dapcha of Kashikhanda Municipality in Kavre yesterday night.
The victim has been identified as Pratis Tamang, 20, of Kashikhanda-2, according to District Police Office Kavre.
DPO said Pratis and his 20-year-old friend Arun Lama had gone to Baskharka-based Pipaldanda to hunt the bird with a traditional pistol. While they were running fearing that a tiger had approached them, Arun slipped and the pistol went off on Pratis’ lips, police quoted Arun.
“The incident took place at around midnight and I ran home and stayed quiet due to fear,” said Arun to police.
The locals had reported at Bhakunde Police Post when they saw Pratis dead, with bullet injuries on his face. A joint police team led by SI Tika Sapkota and Inspector Bidur Kumar Thapa from DPO reached the incident site today morning.
Police recovered a traditional pistol and a bullet from the site. They arrested Arun from his house.
