Bridge installed

MAHENDRANAGAR: A new suspension bridge over the Doda River in Kanchanpur has been completed. The old bridge was swept away by floods about seven years ago. Thousands of residents of Shankarpur VDC and surrounding areas had been relying on boats to cross the river in the absence of a bridge. District Development Committee has spent around Rs 30 million to install the bridge. “Even the boats had stopped operating during monsoon, as a result we had almost lost contact with the people across the river,” shared Santu Rana, a local, adding that the new bridge had brought great relief to the children whose schools are across the river.
