Youth swindles many claiming self as Shesh Ghale's son

POKHARA: Kaski police arrested a man for swindling women through fake social media accounts posing himself as the son of businessman Shesh Ghale, from Pokhara, on Friday.

Police said 27-year-old Chitra Kumar Shrestha (aka Raj) of Manpang VDC-2, Tanahun, had made fake accounts on Viber and Facebook, naming himself as Akash Ghale, son of Non-Resident Nepalis Association President Ghale.

Shrestha, using the fake accounts contacted women and assured them to help them to go to the United States and find lucrative jobs there.

Shrestha told them that he was in America and asked the interested women to meet his friend in Nepal, who according to him could help them in the visa process.

The alleged conman, however, gave the victims his own contact number, met them posing as Ghale’s friend and swindled them of thousands of rupees claiming to facilitate the visa process, informed Kaski District Police spokesperson DSP Guju Siddhi Bajracharya.

DSP Bajracharya hinted that he could have swindled hundreds likewise.

Police said they also used the social media accounts to nab Shrestha, claiming they were interested to meet him and fly to America.

Police had swung into the action two of the victims had lodged a case against him.

Meanwhile, Shrestha is currently kept at the Ward Police Office for further investigation.
