CNP marks fiscal year 2014/15 as zero poaching year of Rhino in Chitwan
RATNANAGAR: The Chitwan National Park has marked the Fiscal Year 2014/15 as zero poaching year of Rhino in the park.
Not a single Rhino lost its life to poaching in the park as well as in the forest area of the district, according to Information Officer of the CNP Tikaram Poudel. This is the fourth time that the park has observed a zero poaching year.
The success in protecting the endangered species from unnatural death has been attributed to a rise in public awareness in wildlife protection and also effective anti-poaching and trade initiative.
According to the latest census, the Chitwan National Park is home to 605 one-horn Rhinos.
