KATHMANDU, APRIL 5

Zonta Club Kathmandu has implemented an education support initiative in Dang, providing scholarships and bicycles to schoolgirls.

The programme, carried out in collaboration with Rana Ambika Shah Sewa Guthi Nepal and Tara Oriental, covers students from Grades 1 to 10 at Shri Mahendra Secondary School in Dharna and Shri Saraswati Secondary School in Ghorahi.

Under the initiative, 20 students per grade across both schools have been selected for scholarships, while 52 bicycles-26 for each school-have been distributed to girls in Grades 6 to 9 to improve mobility and school attendance.

Zonta Club Kathmandu President Bina Rana said the programme aims to remove barriers to girls' education by combining financial and logistical support.

School representatives said the initiative is expected to reduce absenteeism and support continued education, particularly for students traveling long distances.

Representatives from the partner organisations, along with Zonta officials including Vice President Mridula Rajbhandary, also attended the programme.
