Gurung off to participate in Asia 21 summit
KATHMANDU: Nepal’s popular folk rock band Nepathya’s frontman Amrit Gurung has been chosen among more than 150 emerging leaders from some 30 countries in the Asia-Pacific region to participate in the Asia Society’s fourth annual Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit, to be held in Kuala Lumpur from November 20-22.
According to an Asia Society press statement, Gurung joins young
leaders from various sectors, all under and around age 40, who will
explore ‘The Changing Face of Leadership: Crisis and Opportunity” at
the summit.
The Asia Society’s Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit is part of a larger initiative designed to help emerging leaders from across the region to develop common approaches to meet its shared challenges.
A poet, musician, singer, photographer, filmmaker and traveller, Gurung is one of Nepal’s most recognised faces.
“I have found the arts, especially music, to be the most important way to create a more just and tolerant society. It really works, and it would be very enriching for me to discuss this theme with Asia’s future politicians, business leaders, activists, media and fellow-artists,”a Nepalaya statement quoted Gurung as saying.
