Last rites for Zion Church victims
DHARAN: Seven people, who died in the Zion Church tragedy in Dharan-19 on Tuesday night, were buried today. So far, sixteen victims’ bodies have been claimed by their family.
Today, Sita Diyali of Lalitpur, Peter Lawoti of Panchathar, Nirmala Rai (she hailed from neighbouring India), Abhishek Rai of Budhabare, Aaitimaya Rai of Yangshila, Suliman Tamang of Butwal and Rajendra Rai of Udayapur were buried at the Hariyali Community
Forest in Dharan.
Fifty-one people, who were undergoing treatment in BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), have been discharged from the hospital. Only four persons are now
being treated at the BPKIHS. Eight people, who sustained injuries in the accident, are undergoing treatment at B&B and Chhauni Hospital in Kathmandu Valley.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture Dr Minendra Rijal visited Dharan today.
He promised free treatment and immediate relief
measures for the victims’
next of kin.
The Home Ministry that has set up a probe panel will start its findings from
tomorrow.
A three-storey bamboo structure of the Zion Church collapsed on Tuesday night, killing 23 people and injuring another 63.
