Maoists declare Magarat, Tamuwan
KATHMANDU: The main opposition party UCPN-Maoist continued to declare the autonomous states. On Thursday, it declared two more states—Magarat and Tamuwan states.
The declaration of Magarat state was made from Tansen, the headquarters of Palpa district, and Tamuwan from Pokhara, Kaski district.
Magarat state was declared by general secretary of the party Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’. Thapa while addressing the masses said that the country would disintegrate if the slogan ‘Long live the people’s federal republic and long live Magarat autonomous state’ was not made a common slogan for everyone. He was accompanied by senior leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi in the programme.
According to the Maoists the Magarat autonomous state comprises—Gulmi, Arghakhachi, Salyan, Rukum, Rolpa, Baglung, Palpa, Pyuthan and Syangja districts.
Similarly Dev Gurung, the central leader of the party, declared the Tamuwan autonomous state in a programme organised in Pokhara.
The party announced that the Tamuwan autonomous state comprises Lamjung, Tanahun, Mustang, Gorkha, Parbat, Syangja and Kaski districts.
The Maoists have declared 12 states to date.
