SOLUKHUMBU: A new species of bird has been discovered in the area of Burtal lake, Cheskam VDC, Solukhumbu district over the last three months.

According to eyewitnesses the bird has mostly black wings with white spots and a long beak and weighs around 8 kgs.

The Daphne is the national bird of Nepal. At least 850 types of birds are found in Nepal.
