PM in flurry of parleys as deadline looms
KATHAMNDU: With time running short in face of the looming deadline for the peace and new constitution drafting processes in the country, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal continued his political consultations with fringe parties on Sunday.
The PM held parleys with Dalit Janajati Party, Nepa Party, Nepal Pariwar Dal and Rastriya Janamukti Party (RJP) about the current political development at his office in Singha Durbar. He discussed on the latest political development, integration and management of ex-Maoist combatants, constitution drafting, among others.
Emerging from the meeting, MS Thapa, chairman of RJP told media persons as the PM saying: "UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal suggested me, either to resign from the post or integrate 15,000 PLA fighters into Nepali Army." Thapa quoted the PM as denying the suggestion.
The PM also held discussions with his party CPN-UML Constituent Assembly members on Sunday morning.
On Saturday, the PM had consulted CPN (United) chairperson Chandra Dev Joshi, general secretary Sunil Manandhar and Minister for Environment Thakur Sharma.
